Reservations & Fees
Q. Is the entire building rented out?
A. Yes, it is a whole-house rental, a renovated traditional house over 60 years old. It is limited to one group per day, and there are no spaces shared with other guests.
Q. What is the maximum occupancy?
A. Up to 6 guests can stay. Additional charges may apply depending on the number of guests, so please check the prices on the booking site. Standard cleaning fees are included in the accommodation price. Entry exceeding the number of reserved guests is not permitted. If you are considering using the property with a group exceeding the maximum occupancy, please inquire before making a reservation.
Q. Can I stay with children?
A. Yes, we have many families staying with us. We do not provide bedding specifically for infants (such as baby cribs); adults' bedding and towels will be shared. Please note that as it is a traditional house, there is a step of about 50 cm at the entrance and low beams inside. Please be careful if you are staying with small children.
Q. Can I cancel, change dates, or change the number of guests?
A. This will follow the regulations and procedures of the booking site you used (e.g., Airbnb, Booking.com). Cancellations made at short notice may incur a cancellation fee. Please contact us via message first.
Q. What are the payment methods and how do I get a receipt?
A. For reservations made via a booking site, payment and receipt issuance will generally be handled through that site. Please let us know if you require a receipt.
Check-in/Check-out
Q. What are the check-in and check-out times?
A. Check-in is from 17:00 to 21:00, and check-out is at 10:00. As it is self-check-in (smart lock), arrivals after 21:00 can also be arranged. If you anticipate a late arrival, please inform us of your estimated arrival time via message in advance (please enter quietly at night as it is a quiet residential area).
Q. Can I check in early?
A. Due to cleaning schedules, we generally cannot accommodate early check-ins. Depending on the previous day's occupancy and cleaning status, it may be possible, so please inquire as early as possible if you wish to do so.
Q. Can I check out late?
A. This may be possible depending on the next day's reservation status. Please consult us via message.
Q. Is pre-check-in and guest registration required?
A. Yes, it is required. Based on legal requirements, information for all guests, including infants, must be registered in advance. Please complete the form provided by the day before check-in.
Q. How do I enter the room?
A. The entrance uses a smart lock (keypad type). The passcode will be provided after all guests have completed pre-check-in (please note that we cannot provide it if any guest has not completed it). If you have trouble unlocking the door or encounter any other issues, please call the facility contact number provided (we will provide remote support).
Q. Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
A. As it is an unmanned facility with no permanent staff, we generally cannot store luggage. If you have special circumstances, please consult us via message. For questions or problems during your stay, please contact us via message on the booking site or the facility contact number provided (we will provide remote support).
Rooms & Facilities
Q. What is the bedding configuration?
A. We provide futons (mattress type) for up to 6 guests. The sleeping areas are divided into multiple rooms, and the room assignments and number of futons provided will be arranged according to the number of reserved guests. Please inquire at the time of booking for details.
Q. What amenities are provided?
A. We provide towels (including bath towels, one set per person), toothbrushes, shampoo/conditioner, a hairdryer, and drip coffee. Please bring your own pajamas, seasonings, and cooking oil.
Q. Is there a kitchen and washing machine?
A. The kitchen has a 3-burner IH stove, refrigerator, microwave, rice cooker, electric kettle, pots, cooking utensils, and tableware. There is also a washer-dryer (detergent provided).
Q. Is Wi-Fi available?
A. Yes, it is fully equipped. Connection information will be provided in the entry guide at check-in.
Q. What about heating and air conditioning?
A. All rooms are equipped with air conditioners. As it is a traditional house, it can get cold in winter. We recommend bringing warm clothing.
Q. Is it barrier-free?
A. Unfortunately, it is not barrier-free. As it is a traditional house, there is a step of about 50 cm at the entrance and low beams inside. There is a bedroom on the first floor, so please consult us if you have difficulty using stairs.
Access & Parking
Q. How do I get there from Matsumoto Station?
A. It's about a 15-minute walk (approx. 1.1km, mostly flat) from JR Matsumoto Station, or about a 10-minute drive. Please see theAccess pagefor details.
Q. Is there parking? Can larger cars park there?
A. There is one free parking space on the premises (limited to 5-number license plates and kei cars). Larger vehicles such as minivans, Alphards, or Hiaces cannot be parked. For a second car or larger vehicles, you can use the nearby coin parking (Times Matsumoto Chuo 3-chome), which is about a 2-minute walk away. Please note that the road in front of the property is narrow, so please be careful when entering and exiting. Bicycles can be parked on the premises (approx. 5 bikes).
Rules During Your Stay
Q. Is smoking allowed?
A. The entire building is non-smoking. A special cleaning fee will be charged if smoking is detected.
Q. Can I have a BBQ or fireworks?
A. Unfortunately, BBQs and fireworks are not permitted on the premises as it is a residential area. BBQ equipment is also not provided.
Q. What should I be mindful of regarding nighttime activities?
A. As the property is located in a quiet residential area, please keep noise to a minimum at night (roughly 22:00 to 7:00 the next day). Use for parties or events, and entry exceeding the number of reserved guests, are not permitted.
Q. Are pets allowed?
A. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
Q. The circuit breaker tripped when I used the hairdryer.
A. As it is a traditional house, the circuit breaker may trip if high-power electrical appliances like hairdryers are used simultaneously. The distribution board is located outdoors (on the parking lot side). If you don't know how to reset it, please contact the facility contact number provided.
Local Information
Q. Are there any places to shop nearby?
A. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. The old-fashioned shopping street "Nawate-dori" and the public bath "Kiku-no-yu" are also within walking distance, making it an area where you can experience daily life in Matsumoto.
Q. Can it be used as a base for sightseeing and mountain climbing?
A. Yes. It's in the castle town area, about a 10-minute drive from Matsumoto Castle, and is used as a base for mountain climbing and sightseeing in Kamikochi and the Northern Alps, as well as for walking the Nakasendo trail.
