Morito Beach, Isshiki Beach, Chojagasaki Ohama Beach (Hayama Town) / Within Hayama Town. 10 minutes walk to car from various facilities in town.

Hayama's beaches areopen from early July to the end of August. During this period, lifeguards are on duty and beach houses are open.

Isshiki Beach was selected as one of CNN's "World's Best 65 Beaches" and is also included in the Ministry of the Environment's "100 Best Bathing Beaches." Its location next to the Imperial Villa makes it quiet. Morito Beach is the widest in Hayama, has excellent beach houses, and in the evening, you can see Mt. Fuji over the red torii gate and Yujiro Lighthouse.

Outside of the season, there are no lifeguards. If you plan to swim, do so during the open season.

⛩️ Hikage Festival

For two days once a year, Hayama's long-established Hikage Chaya opens its storefront for a festival. This year marks its 58th anniversary.

There's the famous mochi pounding, takoyaki, yakitori, and shaved ice stalls. Night stalls offer yo-yo fishing, target shooting, ring toss, and rock-paper-scissors candy. There are also demonstrations of amezaiku (candy art) and Edo characters, and performances by the Shrine Festival Music Preservation Society and Japanese taiko drums. On the adjacent La Maree side, seafood such as grilled scallops, turban shells, and tuna skewers are available.

This is not a festival created for tourists, but an event that local residents look forward to every year. From 4 PM to 9 PM. After spending the day at Morito Beach, it's within walking distance.

This is a beach festival on Zushi Beach that concludes the summer vacation. Stalls for yakitori, shaved ice, super ball scooping, goldfish scooping, ring toss, and masks. All the typical Japanese summer festival stalls line the sandy beach.

It's a short festival, only an hour and a half in the evening, so you can easily drop by before dinner.Postponed in case of rain (reserve day 8/30), so please be sure to check the organizer's announcement before going.

🎨 Ishinomori Manga Museum Special Exhibition

This is Shotaro Ishinomori's manga museum, located on a sandbar in the Kitakami River. Original drawings of Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009 are on permanent display.

Special exhibitions change every few months, so the content will be different even on a second visit.Destination for rainy dayscan also be used as.

It's within walking distance from accommodations in Ishinomaki. Character statues line the street outside the museum (Ishinomaki Manga Road), so the journey itself is entertaining.

🎨 Jozenji Street Jazz Festival

Jozenji-dori, Kotodai Park, and other central areas of Sendai City

This is a music festival where the entire city becomes a stage. Performances begin simultaneously in dozens of locations throughout the city, under the zelkova trees of Jozenji-dori, in parks, and under the eaves of buildings.

Not only professionals perform. Student bands and amateur bands also take to the same street corners. No tickets are required. Just walk around and stop where you like the sound.

Although it's called jazz, it actually mixes rock, gospel, and wind band music.

This is the day when the home base of the Blue Impulse is opened to the public once a year. Admission is free and no application is required.

In addition to the aerial display, equipment exhibitions are also held. You can see the sky from outside the base, but the loudness of the sound when viewed directly underneath cannot be understood without entering.

Please note that in 2026, the event has moved from its usual late August toearly October(as a measure against extreme heat). On October 3, the day before, the renamed "Higashimatsushima Autumn Festival" will be held. Flights are highly dependent on weather, so please check the announcement on the day before heading out.

Four summer days in Kagurazaka. The first two days are theHozuki Market, and the latter two days are theAwa Odori Dance Festival.

For Awa Odori, the slope itself becomes the venue. Dancers come down the narrow street, so the distance is very close. Groups from Tokushima also participate.

The view differs between the top and bottom of the slope. If your accommodation is halfway up the slope, you can go out before it gets crowded and return when you're tired.
