This is the annual grand festival of Morito Daimyojin, said to have been founded by Minamoto no Yoritomo. It's the most exciting two days in Hayama.

The highlight is the portable shrines (mikoshi). It's a unique sight for a seaside town, worth seeing just for this.

The beach will be crowded. Wear shoes that can get wet.

The 7th (Mon) is the eve festival, and the 8th (Tue) is the main festival. Confirmed in Hayama Machizukuri Kyokai's town festival list (2026-07-31). However, the official site does not specify which day the 'Hamairi' takes place (sources describe both eve festival procession and main festival going to the sea - remains uncertain).
