The waters off Kinkasan, in particular, are a tidal current where the Kuroshio (warm current) and Oyashio (cold current) meet, making it one of the world's three major fishing grounds. The area around Roopt Higashimatsushima Shintona is a place where you can enjoy a wide variety of gourmet food, from restaurants using abundant seafood to newly opened stylish cafes. In this column, we will introduce 8 restaurants around Tona Station, Nobiru Station, and the Roopt Higashimatsushima share house base.
'Irodori no Oka' is located about a 3-minute walk from JR Senseki Line Tona Station. Opened in May 2021, this facility is a building that feels open with large glass windows and the warmth of wood, making it exciting to look at from the outside.
'Irodori no Oka' is a complex facility established by a medical corporation, housing a clinic, hot springs, and a hotel. It's a place where you can enjoy various activities, and one of them is dining in the cafe space.
The lunch menu includes lunch plates, hamburgers, and beef tongue stew. There are also coffee and desserts to enjoy after your meal, so you'll be satisfied no matter when you go. Since it's within walking distance from Roopt Higashimatsushima Shintona, conversations like "What should we eat?" or "Maybe Irodori no Oka?" might arise.

This is 'Cafe Angateaux,' a cafe within walking distance from Nobiru Station, one stop from Tona Station. It's located in a corner of a residential area and is open only on weekends, using a part of the owner's home.
Inside the cafe, art pieces selected by the art-loving owner are displayed everywhere. There are also watercolors painted by the owner themselves. Spending a relaxing tea time while admiring the wonderful art is exceptional.
What's wonderful about this cafe isn't just the atmosphere and menu, but also the owner themselves. They are very friendly, so please do strike up a conversation when you stop by 'Cafe Angateaux' for a break.

Okumatsushima Clubhouse is a luxurious space consisting of two restaurants, a garden, and this cafe space, 'Nobiru no Chaya.' You'll see it as you drive along the Okumatsushima Park Line, a scenic route that continues from Prefectural Road 27.
The highlight of 'Nobiru no Chaya' is the "super-aged pot-baked sweet potato," carefully baked in-house in a special pot. You can enjoy super-aged pot-baked sweet potatoes in various forms, including pot-baked sweet potatoes, frozen pot-baked sweet potatoes, and pot-baked sweet potato lattes.
You can dine inside the Okumatsushima Clubhouse, or purchase from the counter behind the store for takeout. Feel free to stop by when you're craving something sweet.

This is 'Soba-dokoro Okumatsuan,' a soba restaurant located within the Okumatsushima Clubhouse. When entering the dining area, you can choose between 'Soba-dokoro Okumatsuan' or 'Charcoal-grilled Umi-aji,' but this time we chose the former.
The interior is a luxurious space, true to the concept of the Okumatsushima Clubhouse, and just looking at the restaurant makes you feel a little glamorous.
'Soba-dokoro Okumatsuan' offers a menu focused on local ingredients. The "Nori Soba" and "Oyster Fry" we ordered this time were both from Higashimatsushima. The black soba noodles, generously kneaded with Higashimatsushima nori seaweed, are exquisite, so please give them a try.

'Mori no KITCHEN' is a restaurant located within KIBOTCHA, a complex facility that utilizes a former school building. During lunchtime, the restaurant is bustling with families.
The menu offers dishes loved by all generations, such as set meals, curry, and ramen. There are also seafood dishes that you definitely want to try when you come to Miyagi. At 'Mori no KITCHEN,' a free drink bar comes with any food order, which is great for both kids and adults. Plus, with Wi-Fi available, you might find yourself lingering for a long time.
In addition to lunch and cafe hours, they are open until 9:00 PM and serve alcohol. Enjoying a drink with dinner is also a great way to spend your time.

As soon as you arrive at Kameoka Base, an outdoor hub in Okumatsushima, you'll see the words "California Shokudo." You can enjoy a stylish lunch at 'California Shokudo No. 2,' a cafe located within Kameoka Base.
They offer cafe-style dishes that match the atmosphere, such as pasta and curry. This time, I ordered pasta. The pasta, made with carefully selected noodles, is delightfully chewy. They also have a wide selection of post-meal drinks, including mixed drinks sealed in cans, which is a unique method.
'California Shokudo No. 2' also operates as a bar on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. If you're in the mood for a drink, be sure to stop by.
Here's a secret shortcut to the share house. If you walk a little west from Kameoka Base, there's a tunnel (pedestrian path) that leads to the Shintona area, and you can walk back to Roopt Higashimatsushima Shintona in about 15 minutes. It's great to be able to return without needing a designated driver after enjoying some drinks.

The closest restaurant to Roopt Higashimatsushima Shintona is 'Ramen Kaede'.
Located in a residential area, it has a stylish exterior that doesn't immediately look like a ramen shop.
Inside, teacups are neatly lined up on an entire wall, giving it a cafe-like atmosphere.
You might wonder, "Is this really a ramen shop?" but you can definitely feel the lively energy unique to a ramen shop, and that gap is part of its charm.
The recommended "Kaede Ramen" is a soy sauce ramen with a seafood broth, and its rich flavor is addictive.
It's a popular local spot where families queue up on weekends.
If you're craving ramen, be sure to visit 'Ramen Kaede' early.

Finally, we introduce 'Enmantei,' a ramen shop near Okumatsushima Sports Park.
It's a ramen shop that many celebrities have visited, with numerous autographs displayed inside.
'Enmantei' uses plenty of seafood in its ramen.
The "Seaweed Ramen" I ordered this time was, as the name suggests, topped with plenty of nori and funori seaweed in the soup.
The main highlight is the "Seafood Ramen," which comes with a whole horsehair crab.
There are many unique ramen dishes here that you can't taste anywhere else, so you'll surely want to visit again and again once you've been.
