Wataya is a whole-house rental guesthouse, a traditional farmhouse nearly 100 years old, located near the terraced rice fields of Kamiyamaguchi, Hayama. Originally a business dealing in cotton (wata), the house's trade name "Wataya" has become the guesthouse's name. While retaining traditional features like beams and fittings, it offers a relaxing stay for one group per day. A guided walk through the terraced rice fields after check-in is included in the stay, exploring the history, local life, and seasonal nature of the satoyama.
After check-in, we will guide you on a walk through the terraced rice fields (included in your stay). We will explore the history of the terraced fields, the local way of life, and the seasonal nature of this small satoyama.
Additionally, you can book agricultural experiences such as rice planting and harvesting, ice cream making using terraced rice, dinner plans featuring local ingredients, and terraced rice field breakfast. Booking these together allows you to fully enjoy the charm of the region.

The kitchen is equipped with a rice polisher and an earthenware pot. The experience of polishing terraced rice yourself and cooking it in an earthenware pot is one of the unique pleasures of this guesthouse. With fully equipped appliances and cooking utensils, you can fully enjoy your meals.
There is also a garden, allowing you to enjoy time outdoors.
Accommodating up to 8 guests, there are three sleeping areas: a bedroom with 2 single beds, a room with 2 daybeds converted from a closet, and a Japanese-style room (4 futons) that can be partitioned by a roll screen. It is ideal for families and groups of friends.
