Makigumi Inc.'s Vacant Property Utilization Cases
OGAWA (Guesthouse: Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture)
A guesthouse that opened in 2020 after renovating a 70-year-old vacant house. Despite the unfavorable condition of being about a 15-minute walk from Ishinomaki Station and not facing a road, it operated for 180 days in fiscal year 2022, the maximum number of operating days under the Residential Accommodation Business Act. There is strong demand for whole-house rentals, and it is often used by families and groups, especially on weekends.
Roopt Okumatsushima (Share House + Guesthouse: Higashimatsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture)
A share house that opened in Higashimatsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture, in 2022, with one room utilized as a vacation rental. Since Matsushima, one of Japan's three most scenic views, is nearby, many foreign tourists also stay here.
