Announcement: Terraced Rice Field Inn "Wataya Roopt Hayama Kamiyamaguchi" Now Open

Wataya Roopt Hayama Kamiyamaguchi, a whole-house rental in a nearly 100-year-old traditional Japanese house located near the terraced rice fields of Hayama Kamiyamaguchi, has opened.

Originally a house that dealt in cotton (wata), the name "Wataya" has been passed down as the inn's name. While retaining traditional features like beams and fittings, it offers a relaxing stay for one group per day, accommodating up to 8 guests.

A guided walk through the terraced rice fields after check-in is included in the stay, exploring the history, daily life, and seasonal nature of the satoyama (countryside). Additionally, you can book agricultural experiences such as rice planting and harvesting, ice cream making using terraced rice, dinner plans with local ingredients, and terraced rice field breakfast (experience and meal plans require advance reservation at least 4 days prior to your stay).

The kitchen is equipped with a rice polisher and a clay pot, allowing you to enjoy the unique experience of polishing terraced rice yourself and cooking it in the clay pot. There is also a garden where you can enjoy time outdoors.

This inn is highly recommended for those who wish to deeply experience the satoyama lifestyle of Hayama.
