Announcement: Terraced Rice Field Inn "Wataya Roopt Hayama Kamiyamaguchi" Now Open

Wataya Roopt Hayama Kamiyamaguchi, a whole-house rental in a nearly 100-year-old traditional Japanese house located near the terraced rice fields of Hayama Kamiyamaguchi, is now open.

The house originally belonged to a family that dealt in cotton (wata), and the trade name "Wataya" has been adopted as the inn's name. While retaining traditional features such as beams and fittings, the inn offers a relaxing stay for one group per day, with a maximum of 8 guests.

A guided tour of the terraced rice fields after check-in is included with your stay, exploring the history, lifestyle, and seasonal nature of the satoyama (rural landscape). Additionally, you can book agricultural experiences such as rice planting and harvesting, ice cream making using terraced rice, dinner plans featuring local ingredients, and terraced rice field breakfast (all experiences and meal plans require advance reservation at least 4 days prior to your stay).

The kitchen is equipped with a rice polishing machine and a donabe (clay pot), allowing guests to enjoy the unique experience of polishing their own terraced rice and cooking it in the donabe. There is also a garden, providing opportunities to enjoy time outdoors.
