Roopt Ishinomaki Haguro-cho surrounding events

This is the Shotaro Ishinomori Manga Museum, located on a sandbar in the Kitakami River. It permanently displays original drawings of Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009.

The special exhibitions change every few months, so even if you visit a second time, the content will be different.Places to go on a rainy dayIt can also be used as such.

It's within walking distance from our accommodation in Ishinomaki. There are also character statues lining the street outside the building (Ishinomaki Manga Road), so you won't get bored on the way.

This is an Obon festival where lanterns are floated on Matsushima Bay to send off ancestors. Lights and fireworks combine on the sea, one of Japan's three most scenic spots.

The 15th is the eve of the festival, featuring a fair with stalls, Bon Odori dances, and drumming. The 16th is the main day of the Great Segaki Ceremony, where lanterns are floated down a river after the chanting of sutras. Fireworks are set off for about 15 minutes on both nights as a memorial service.

These are not fireworks for sightseeing, but fireworks as a farewell bonfire. It is proper etiquette to watch them quietly.

This is the one day of the year when the Blue Impulse's home base is open to the public. Admission is free and no reservation is required.

In addition to the aerial demonstration, there will also be displays of equipment. You can see the sky from outside the base, but you can't understand the volume of the sound when you're directly underneath unless you go inside.

In 2026, the start date will change from late August as in previous years.The event has been moved to early October.(Measures against extreme heat). On the previous day, October 3rd, the "Higashimatsushima Autumn Festival," which has been renamed, will be held. Flights are heavily dependent on the weather, so please check the announcement on the day before you go.
