Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions During Share House Viewings and Their Answers [As told by Roopt staff]

[Frequently Asked Questions] Top 10 Questions Asked During Share House Viewings and Their Answers | Insights from Roopt Staff

Roopt, which operates share houses mainly in Miyagi Prefecture, sees many different people coming to view their share houses every day.

Viewings are available on weekdays and weekends, with various motivations ranging from "I'm considering moving in, so I'd like to take a look" to "I just want to take a peek."

What I've found interesting among the many people I've guided so far is that "the points of interest are the same for everyone."

When people view properties, they ask a lot of questions, but the content of those questions is often quite similar.

So, this time, I'd like to introduce the top 10 most frequently asked questions and their answers when viewing a shared house.

If you're interested in viewing properties or are curious about shared housing, please use this as a reference.

There's a lot you don't know about living in a shared house, but that's what makes it fun.

This time, in order to clarify the criteria for answering, we are assuming a Roopt share house in Miyagi Prefecture.

As of July 2024, we are currently accepting applications for shared housing residents at the following properties in Miyagi Prefecture.

Roopt Ishinomaki Chuo -COMICHI-

Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka

Roopt Ishinomaki Sengoku-cho -Eiser-

Roopt Oku Matsushima

Roopt Shiogama Kaigan-dori

10th place: Are there supermarkets or convenience stores nearby?

When it comes to daily life, having a supermarket or convenience store nearby is definitely something to consider, isn't it?

The answer is "Yes, but the distance varies depending on the property."

Surprisingly, all the properties are within walking distance, and in particular, Roopt Shiogama Kaigandori and Roopt Ishinomaki Sengokucho-Eiser- are just a one-minute walk from a convenience store.

On the other hand, Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka and Roopt Okumatsushima are about a 15-minute walk apart, so if you have a car, it's easier to go shopping by car.

(A 15-minute walk is good exercise, so walking to the store is also recommended.)

There are several articles about the surrounding area of the share house, so please feel free to refer to those as well.

9th place: Can I use Wi-Fi in my room?

Now that remote work has become commonplace, the number of residents who work from their rooms is increasing.

The answer is "Yes, you can use it," and you can enjoy free Wi-Fi at any property.

For example, at Roopt Ishinomaki Chuo-COMICHI-, you can connect a wired or Wi-Fi router in your room and use that network, so even if the free Wi-Fi connection is weak, you can take such measures.

By the way, there's a cafe near the share house with Wi-Fi that's suitable for remote work, so please check that out as well.

8th place: Is it okay if there are a few days off?

This is a question that I get asked surprisingly often, perhaps because it's related to business trips.

In conclusion, "It's okay."

Just like with a rental apartment, as long as you have a contract, you are free to stay in the apartment or leave it as you wish.

However, since we get worried if there's too little contact, our contract includes a clause stating that "if you're going to be absent for more than a month, you must contact Roopt management."

As long as you contact us, it's not a problem if you take a break of more than a month, and in fact, there are foreign nationals who, due to visa requirements, stay for several months, then take a month off, then stay for several months again, and so on.

7th place: Is parking available?

That's a question you'd only get in a rural area where cars are the primary mode of transportation.

This varies depending on the property, so I've summarized it below.

Roopt Ishinomaki Chuo-COMICHI- → You can use our managed monthly parking lot next to the share house (5,000 yen/month)

Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka → Parking available on the share house premises (6,000 yen/month)

Roopt Ishinomaki Sengokucho -Eiser- → There is no dedicated parking lot, so you will need to find and contract for a monthly parking space yourself.

Roopt Okumatsushima → Parking available on the share house premises (free for one car per person)

Roopt Shiogama Kaigandori → There is no dedicated parking lot, so you will need to find and contract for a monthly parking space yourself.

By the way, I've created a summary article about coin-operated parking lots in Ishinomaki city center and Shiogama, so please check that out if you're interested.

This article was written by the author shortly after recovering from home isolation due to COVID-19, when he wanted to take a walk and visually inspected all the parking lots.

6th Place: I want to do [something], which share house would you recommend?

Roopt operates multiple shared houses, and the atmosphere varies considerably depending on the property and location.

Therefore, I sometimes get asked by people considering which property to move into, "I want to do XX, which share house would you recommend?" So, based on my own subjective opinion, I'd like to write about who each property is best suited for.

Roopt Ishinomaki Chuo -COMICHI- → Ideal for those new to share houses, those who want to interact with various people in the city and within the share house, and those who enjoy drinking (due to proximity to the bar district).

Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka → For those who want to spend time in a quiet environment, need a spacious room, or enjoy alcohol (as it's close to a bar district)

Roopt Ishinomaki Sengokucho -Eiser- → For those who want a convenient lifestyle, those who commute from Ishinomaki Station, and those who enjoy drinking (because it's close to a bar district)

Roopt Okumatsushima → This is a shared house for those who want to live in a quiet environment and need a spacious place to live.
