Many people who watch cat videos on social media like YouTube and Instagram probably think, "I want to own a cat someday." For those who already own cats, finding a home where both they and their feline friends can live comfortably is not easy. Furthermore, some of you may even want to live in a share house with your cat.
To meet these needs, Roopt has installed a catwalk in one of the rooms at Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture! What's more, this catwalk was built through a DIY workshop with local cat lovers! Please take a look at the completed catwalk in this article, along with a full report of the DIY workshop held in January 2023.
*The cat featured in this report was brought by a participant of the DIY workshop. The Twitter account "Bucchan's House" shares daily life with four cats, so please check it out!https://twitter.com/bucchanshome

Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka is a share house located right next to Hiyoriyama Park, which offers a panoramic view of Ishinomaki City. It operates in a renovated two-story former company dormitory. It consists of four units: Room 101 (3DK), Room 102 (2DK), Room 201 (3DK), and Room 202 (2DK). Each private room within a unit can be used as a private space, and it's also possible to rent an entire unit for oneself.
It's a highly flexible share house where you can enjoy a lifestyle similar to a rental apartment, despite being a share house.

This time, with Mr. Yamauchi as the instructor, a DIY workshop was held to create and install a catwalk in the living room of Room 101 at Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka. Six cat lovers living in Ishinomaki City and the surrounding areas participated.
Here is the image Mr. Yamauchi created for this project. It's easy to imagine cats happily using it, isn't it? Mr. Yamauchi prepared the parts in advance, and the workshop proceeded in a way that only required assembling and installing them, so it was completed in just four hours, from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Some of the participants were already doing DIY at home and were very interested in Mr. Yamauchi's tools and techniques, asking questions throughout the workshop. Also, based on Mr. Yamauchi's lecture, participants cooperated with each other to create the catwalk, and it seems that connections were formed through their shared love of cats and DIY. Please see the photos for a full account.
And here is the completed catwalk! A catwalk where cats can enjoy themselves as they please has been born at Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka.
A participant immediately brought their cat from home, and although a little hesitant, the cat played on the freshly made catwalk. It goes without saying that this sight was irresistible to cat lovers, and a photo session began.
The catwalk DIY workshop, a first for Roopt, concluded with great success. Thank you very much to all the participants and to Mr. Yamauchi, our instructor!
Through this workshop, Room 101 of Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka has been reborn as a "share house where you can live with cats." As mentioned earlier, Roopt Ishinomaki Hiyorigaoka also allows residents to rent an "entire floor," so there's no need to worry about inconveniencing other sharemates. If you are looking for a property where you can live with your cat, please consider it positively.
If you are considering moving into a property that is "pet-friendly" for not only cats but also dogs, etc., we would be grateful if you could contact Roopt first.
