Announcement of the opening of the new share house "Roopt Ishinomaki Hagurocho" and the holding of a triangular planter making workshop on January 27th, 2024 (Saturday)

On January 27th, 2024 (Saturday), we will be opening a new share house, "Roopt Ishinomaki Hagurocho," in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture!

To celebrate the opening, we'll be holding a DIY workshop where you can create the triangular planters that will be decorating Roopt Ishinomaki Haguro-cho!

Makigumi, a company that renovates vacant houses and utilizes them as shared housing, will open a new shared house, "Roopt Ishinomaki Hagurocho," in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture in January 2024!

This shared house with a guest room was created by utilizing a vacant house, and many people from both within and outside Miyagi Prefecture, not just the Maki Group, actively participated in the renovation from the beginning, including someone who commuted from Tokyo once a month to take part in the renovation.

To celebrate the opening of this shared house, which was "built by everyone," we will be holding a triangular planter making workshop in the afternoon of January 27th (Saturday), the opening day!

A triangular planter is a planter that can also be used as a bench, made by combining wooden planks. As the name suggests, it's a cute planter made by combining triangles.

We want this to be a share house where not only residents but also a variety of people can get involved, even after it opens, so everyone is welcome to participate in this workshop!

If you enjoy DIY projects, or simply want to check out a new shared house, please feel free to join us!

Background of acquiring a vacant house

I acquired a 44-year-old house located on Mt. Haguro, overlooking Ishinomaki Station.

The house had been vacant since the owner stopped living there, and around March of last year, we were contacted by Makigumi to see if we could put it to use.

Although the site had drawbacks such as being built on a retaining wall and requiring numerous renovations, we saw potential in its good sunlight, cool breezes in the summer, and the presence of an old well on the property. Therefore, we acquired the land through Makigumi and proceeded with the renovation work.

We wondered if we could find a good balance between ample space and ease of use, and this was a question not only for the residents but also for the local community.
